African Thoughts
I think we care to a certain extent. But we wouldn't be willing to really stand up and do something about it.
If we went to Africa, those cats may very well tell us we're fake and not black enough...
But I do care
That's what most of them believe anyway. Real Africans over there don't like us AT ALL.
I have to agree. Some of the Aficans think they are better than us.
But with that said, why do you think that is? Is it because our blood is 'semi-diluted', or is it the age old 'light skinned/dark skinned' 'straight hair/curly hair' complex? Either way neither one seems to have much respect for the other (refer to Fred's clip where the little boy says African Booty Scratcher). Yet on both sides for some reason we can't seem to stop killing each other. This is why i think that i should be elected president in 2012. For age groups 23 - 100 I would implement a back to Africa trip for a week for all blacks. For age groups <23 i would implement "back to slavery" for a week. Where I send every single one of their a$$es back to slavery for a week and see how they hold up. Start voting, go to school, and stop listening to garbage music and watching BET and this wont be you in another 50 years! LOL
I think we have "tribalism" engrained in our DNA. Whether is Zulu vs Watootsi, Southside vs Northside, Crips vs Bloodz, Good Hair vs Bad Hair, we find something to seperate and fight about.
But those damn Africans are haters. They should welcome us all back, we are the long lost children.
The ones that come here, alot of them have that "stuck up think they're smart, you lazy americans" attitude.
And those Nigerians, talk about con-artists......

and not tryng to crack jokes on our African brotheren, but will somebody please teach these guys to put on a condom and stop rawdogging the city skanks and then going home and spread that virus to the whole village...

So with all this being said, do you consider yourself African American or Black American? This was referenced on Steve Harvey's show this morning, and it was stated that there is a split in the community as to what folks prefer.

My wife asked that question the other day. Because if an African comes over here and becomes a citizen then they are African American also.

I am with you, I consider myself Black American; only because of what Sweet Nupe mentioned...an African coming over and becoming a citizen, would become African Americans.

Call me black or a Negroe (Spanish for Black) I mean we do have to separate ourselves unfortuantely, must've been the way God planned it or we wouldn't group up and form cultures, traditions, and so on...so i am not offended to be called Black even though I'm dark Brown...but the Mexicans need brown to describe them, so it's all good..and White People aren't really "White", but that's a good general way to combine everybody! But these labels that refer to the country where your people are from is a divisive tactic by white folks! Everybody is something besides White people..you got Chinese Americans, Asian Americans, Spanish Americans, Mexican Americans, African Americans, Itlalian Americans, German Americans..but White people are the only AMERICAN's!!!
So I denounce and reject the title they chose for me, therefore I choose my own! Heck I was born in '75 and my bith certificate says Negroe! My wife was born in '77 and hers says African American. Why do they keep evolving our title? WE ARE AMERICAN'S...PERIOD!!! I AM NOT FROM AFRICA AND DON'T PLAN ON GOING!!!!! If you are not a Euro-American, I'm not African American!
And no Ni99a's here don't really care about Africa! We care about our own pockets and such...we don't have much time to worry about them..hell we still going through it! Gotta fix home b/4 you can help others! Can't lie I like what Oprah is doing for those kids in Africa...but I think she'd make a much larger impact if she spent that dough in the hood!!! The Aids problem is larger than her bank account can handle..as is the problems here, but I think if she can lift up more Americans, then we could make a much larger impact in regards to Africa!
